My Favorite Christmas Song
What’s your favorite Christmas carol/song? Mine? Well, it would be “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.” I don’t know why it became my favorite Christmas carol/song but maybe because the lyrics and tune is catchy. Or maybe it became my favorite because of the memorable and funny experiences I had with this song.
I was in first grade when I first heard this song. Our class was supposed to do a presentation and our teacher chose this song for us. I even remember having to sing a few lines of the song myself. A very short solo if that is what it is called. Our audiences during that time were the entire school faculty, the parents and other students. We received a lot of applause from them. I’m not sure whether it was because we were good at singing or maybe they saw a class of cute first graders in santa and elf costumes singing a song.
During my fourth grade, I had a heated argument with a classmate and it was because of the lyrics of this song. I must have been a fool that time because I misunderstood its lyrics. I really thought the mother in the song was having an affair with Santa Claus. It took me a while to fully understand the lyrics of the song as well as the fact that parents would don on a Santa Claus costume. So basically, mother was kissing father in a Santa Claus costume. What a fool I have been!
